The Benefits of LED Signs

Have you been contemplating LED (Light Emitting Diode) signage for your commercial space or business? Are you debating between LED or neon/fluorescent signage but don’t know which to choose? While LED and neon signs are fairly comparable in price, your ultimate decision will likely come down to other factors.

Let our quick benefits of LED signage blog help steer you:

5 BENEFITS OF LED LIGHTING

1) ENERGY EFFICIENCY

In today’s world, we have to be increasingly environmentally conscious. LED lighting requires less energy to light up than traditional neon or fluorescent lighting. While sources vary in their estimates, LEDs typically consume between 70 to 80 per cent energy. LEDs also generate very little heat; this is particularly important for interior applications as they can shine without heating up their surrounding environment.

2) COLOUR BRIGHTNESS

LED lights are bright and vibrant! So much so, in fact, that they can be seen in full daylight. Neon lighting can struggle for recognition in the day time. LEDs produce bright, clear light that can be seen from close and from a distance.

3) LONGEVITY

LEDs have a longer lifespan compared to neon and fluorescent lighting. A typical LED sign can last for 50,000 to 100,000 hours, which is a full 3 to 6 years longer than fluorescent or neon. LEDs also do not risk leakage of gasses, which means they don’t fade like neon.

4) LIGHT WEIGHT

Neon signs are constructed of glass tubes which can be heavy and cumbersome, especially in larger applications. LEDs, on the other hand are small; they are hung closely together to appear as if they are emitting a unified source of light. Without the bulk of glass tubes, LED signs are thinner and sleeker. They are thus light-weight (vs. neon) and easier to mount.

5) LOW MAINTENANCE

LED signs have far fewer maintenance demands than other types of signage. They don’t use glass tubes (which often leak or break); they’re easy to clean (not too hot or too fragile); and they take a very long time to burn out. They work well in outdoor applications and don’t need significant protection from the elements (unlike fluorescent and incandescent bulbs). They are also easy to install.
